Chris Crabtree’s two home runs and four RBI’s lead Salamanders’ offensive attack, downing SwampDogs 9-6

Salamander first baseman Chris Crabtree hit a monstrous three-run home run in the third inning and followed it with a solo line drive shot in the seventh to lead a nine run, ten hit attack, defeating the Fayetteville SwampDogs 9 – 6 Wednesday evening at Ting Park.

The Salamanders wasted no time getting on the board in the bottom of the first inning as Itchy Burts led off with a double down the right field line.  One pitch later, designated hitter Patrick Bailey dropped an opposite field two run home run over the right field wall giving the Salamanders a 2 – 0 early lead.  That lead was doubled in the 2nd inning when Itchy Burts delivered a two-run triple down the right field line scoring Tyler Smith and AJ Hrica.

The SwampDogs were not to be denied as they plated five runs in the top of the third inning taking a one-run lead, 5 - 4.  The Salamanders continued their offensive production when Chris Crabtree hit his first of two home runs of the evening with a towering blast to right field.  The home run scored both Jake Wright and Ian Bailey giving the Salamanders an 8 – 5 lead after three innings.

The SwampDogs added one more run in the sixth while the Salamanders added a ninth run in the seventh to conclude the scoring for the evening.

SwampDog third baseman Austin Bost had two hits and three RBI in the losing effort.

Salamander starter Mark Tindall threw four innings allowing five earned runs on four hits.  Baker Nelson, Jake Isbell, and John Gaddis also threw in relief for the Salamanders on the winning night.

The Salamanders will travel to Fayetteville to face the SwampDogs tomorrow evening.  The two teams will face each other a total of four times in the next five days.
