Salamanders Live Up To "Super Hero" Night and Defeat the SwampDogs 7-4 in Front of Another Near Capacity Crowd at Ting Park

The Salamanders used a balance attack of hitting, pitching, and defense to defeat the Fayetteville SwampDogs 7 - 4 on Super Hero night at Ting Park.

The Salamander's pitching staff held the visiting SwampDogs to two runs while allowing only five hits on the winning evening.  Impressive outings by starter Tom Gugliomello, Nik Pry, and Kyle Davis took the Manders through eight innings.  Hard throwing lefty John Gaddis closed the night out for the Salamanders striking out two of the four batters he faced.

The Holly Springs offense did its part as well by scoring seven runs in four different innings.  The Salamander offense was highlighted by a four run third inning, sending eight batters to the plate.  There were also impressive team at bats by AJ Hrica in the sixth inning and Nick Lucky in the seventh inning as each plated solo runs with timely sacrifice flies.

John Michael Faile continued his extraordinary summer delivering three of the eight Salamander hits.  Chris Crabtree also added two doubles and one RBI in the winning effort.  Jake Wright, Jake Holtzapple, and Liam Hicks each had singles on the night as well.

The SwampDogs night was highlighted by a two-run towering home run from left fielder Brandon Talley in the sixth inning, making the game a one run affair at that point.

The Salamanders will head to Morehead City tomorrow evening to face the Marlins with a 7:05 first pitch while the SwampDogs travel back to Fayetteville to face the Sharks.
